The Government of Maharashtra established this University on July 1, 1989 and named it after Yashwantrao Chavan,
the great leader of Maharashtra and the father of Modern Maharashtra. Due to its statutory status and accreditation
by the University grants Commission, the university has been able to offer various certificate, Diploma, Degree,
Postgraduate and research courses. Today there are more than 2000 educational centers in Maharashtra and lakhs of
students are studying. Objectives: To develop Innovative and flexible distance learning methods for imparting
technical, vocational, employment oriented and life-sustaining courses through distance learning methods using
scientific communication and cutting edge technology.
